Wag-tailed Wonder

Hi ever'body,
My person received a wonderful email note the other day about love and doggies' capabilities. She asked me to share it with you and I hope you'll like it! It's about a beautiful Border Collie named Zeba....

I've always known that animals are never given the credit they deserve for love, determination and memory. Our Zeba is an example of all these things.

When Zeba was 8 months old, our nephew, Eric, and his wife, Jeannie, from Portland, OR where it rains a lot, brought Zeba to us. It rained that day and though we had a Dogloo outside for her, she preferred to sit in the rain! They brought Zeba to the farm because she had been digging up their small yard. She adapted quickly and loved our wide open spaces with unlimited digging for the rodents that came around.

Zeba didn't see Eric and Jeannie for about 8 years. When they came over for a family reunion, of course, they came to see Zeba. She couldn't give either of them enough love ;o))) and good doggie kisses!

One day, however, she was missing. For two days I called her, and the 3rd morning I saw her in the Dogloo. I knew something was wrong, she didn't really like the Dogloo. Luring her out of the enclosure, we found a badly injured hind leg that the vet had to amputate. She had probably been down at the intersection that leads to our farm and perhaps run over by a vehicle. But, after the amputation, Zeba was determined. She heeled and the amputation slowed her running down a bit - probably from 35 mph to 25 mph - but nothing else was harmed - her energy, or her love to us."

So that's the story of beautiful Zeba - now 14 years old and still runnin' like a dog!!! I hope you enjoyed hearin' about her. The pictures are of Zeba and her person, along with Zeba takin' it easy and surveyin' the beautiful farmlands and view that she "owns!"

Warmest regards,
RILEY

I love this post because I've visited Zeba off and on for almost eight years. I've watched her do everything a four-legged Border Collie could do, but at 3/4 speed, and that's fast. Now, at age 14, she's slowed down to 2/3 speed. Protector of her farm, herder of her people, guide to tractors and the every icon of loyalty. I wish more people were like Zeba.
